CVS & Walmart
Had to go up to Rome today to take Kev to his PT, so I went into the (4) CVS's around the area looking for the free school supplies. They had some of the stuff: one had this, another had that, and so on.
Those index card cases will be great for carrying coupons in. Not ALL the coupons, but like the ones I get together each week for a sale at Publix or Kroger or like that.
Everything was free after ECBs and I used ECBs to pay.
We rode up to Walmart so I could check on the Free-After-Rebate Weather Station things I'd read about on of the blogs (can't remember which), and was able to find them.
They are Bushnell Weather FX5 5-Day Weather Forecasters. Sale priced at $50.00, and there's a $50.00 mail-in rebate. Walmart had the rebate form taped to the packages and a sign hung up saying Free After Rebate.
After rebate they'll have cost me $3.50 each for the tax, but the guys I give them to for Christmas will think I spent alot of money on them, lol. (well, I did spend it...they don't have to know I got it back do they?? LOL)

Publix
Did my Publix shop today I didn't get to do yesterday because I hadn't taken more Pork coupons.
I somehow misfigured my total - again. I have no idea how someone with a notebook, a pen, AND a calculator can't do simple addition and subtraction!!
According to my version of accounting, my ending total should have been -.72, including a $5.00 Walgreens RR I'd planned to use.
When I went to checkout and gave the cashier my coupons, she told me they couldn't take my Wags RR. I have to contact the Store Manager about that because when I asked, when I was there last, about 4 days ago? Mr. Gates himself told me they did accept Walgreens coupons, and he didn't say "but not Register Rewards".
She said that Corporate called and told them that about 2 weeks ago. Funny because the guy working the register behind me hadn't heard about it.
At any rate, without the $5 RR included, my total - according to my figures - should have come up to $4.28 + Tax.
However, my total came up to .36 + tax. Still to my benefit at this point, but I prefer the numbers to add up right, so I don't have to worry about being wrong in the other direction.

Walmart
I needed a color ink cartridge this evening, so off to Walmart. I wasn't even going to carry my coupon envelope...I was just there last night and the flea collars were out, so what were the chances they'd have anymore today? Publix
I had planned to shop 2 Publix today (they are only 4 miles apart, and accepts different competitor coupons). But as I started my shopping at the first Publix, I discovered I had left home with only one $6.00 Pork coupon for the charcoal deal.
So I didn't bother going to the second Publix today. I came home and printed some more of the coupons and plan to go tomorrow.

Ingles...Blegh! & Walmart
Ingles is/was tripling coupons this week. But you have to spend $10.00 and then they'll triple 3 coupons. To my math-feeble mind, that didn't sound like a real good deal. I had wrote down a few things I thought were good deals, but didn't do anything with it, and was pretty much prepared to ignore the whole thing.
Why I sat down and messed with it tonight, I have no idea. Must have been really bored, even if I didn't know it.
Turned out I was able to work up some good deals, going by what I found online. Which, of course, wasn't what I ran into at the store.
Someone had posted that Butterball Turkey lunchmeat was on sale for $1.98, and there was a $1.00 off coupon. I was loaded and ready to stock up on these, the way we go through lunchmeat. Which, of course, wasn't on sale at my Ingles.
I was able to subsitute the lunchmeat with a package of Tyson Chicken Breast Tenderloins for about .30 difference.
So my first deal was:
4 Johnson's Buddies soaps @ .98 each - $1.00 4/26 RP
1 Tyson Chicken Tenders. @ 2.29 - $1.00 6/28 SS
3 BC Warm Delights @ 3/$5.00 - .50/.50/.50 5/31 SS
Total Before Q's: $11.21
The cashier guy scanned and tripled my BC Warm Delights coupons with no problem, but then my J&J coupons beeped and wouldn't scan...which I would say was because of overage, however, the Tyson chicken coupon did the same thing.
He called the CSM over and she checked to make sure I got Tyson chicken and then manually entered the coupon.
Then she checked to see if I got J&J Baby products. First she started to say it was because the picture on the coupon was for the bottled stuff, but then she corrected herself and said that it does say "any". Then she looked at the price and saw they were .98 and decided she couldn't take a $1.00 coupon for a .98 item.
I asked couldn't she adjust it down like other stores do? She said no, if she took a $1.00 coupon for a .98 item, she would lose her job.
Guess I wore my "Stupid" sign on my forehead again tonight. I really need to remember to leave that thing at home!
I said well take them off then, so they took the soaps off, and didn't un-triple my tripled coupons, so that was okay, I still got the deal I wanted, and I can use the J&J coupons somewhere else for another deal.
Total spent for (3) BC Warm Delights and (1) package Tyson chicken tenders: $1.79 + .13 tax = $1.92
After there I went to Walmart.
Trying for the paper deal, only to find out my Walmart apparently - this week - quit stocking the 1-Giant roll of Sparkle paper towels for $1.83. Next cheapest they had was 2-Giant rolls for $3.12.
I decided to go ahead with the 8-roll package for $5.97, and 1 4-pack of Angel Soft for $1.00. $6.97 - $2.00/2 IP q = $4.97.
Then I was going to buy (2) Adams dog flea collars at .97 each, giving me about a $4.00 overage to bring the paper items down to around .97.
Only to get across the store and find someone else has come in and bought up all the flea collars! Arghh.
Back out went the paper items until I can find or they restock the collars.
I got (4) packages of Kotex panty liners at $1.00 each - Free using $1.00 off Kotex pads.
I got (3) boxes of the 3-pack Durex Condoms at $1.97 each - Free with overage after $2.00 coupon.
Didn't notice until I got home that one of the boxes was opened and the Condoms had been stolen out of it. So I accidently did Walmart a favor, using my coupon to buy it, they are going to get paid instead of taking a loss on those.
Also got (2) 6-packs of Nestle life water at $1.00 each - Free after $1.00 IP q.
(3) Blue Bunny ice cream sandwiches at $1.00 each - Free after $1.00 IP q.
(1) gallon Great Value 2% Milk at $1.98.
Total Spent: $1.89 + $.90 tax = $2.79

Krogering
Super Kroger trip today! I messed up my cypherings again today, but it was a case of a coupon I forgot to subtract, so my total was less than I was expecting.
The cashier, Tracy, was great, knew what she was doing, didn't tell me they couldn't accept "CVS coupons" when I used my mfr. q's from the Reinventing Beauty magazine. In fact she asked where I found them and said she needed to get some of them to use herself.
After my check-out was complete and she was giving me my Catalina coupons, she kept the $10.00 Amp Gift Card one and asked me for the gift card I had and went ahead and added the $10.00 it for me right there.

Food Lion (Again)
(Hehe, I'm copying Brandy's deals and titles.) Kevin had a PT appt. today so John came along and I dumped them out at the office and I went coupon shopping.
Went to CVS, but got nothing. I wanted to get the notebooks on sale this week, because I use alot of them for my family genealogy info and photo/scrapbooking project holders. But one CVS was out, and the other never got any in and said they wouldn't be getting any in because of the store's classification.
I asked for a raincheck, and they were going to give me one, then the (Manager?) said it wouldn't print ECBs after Tuesday, and that they were Corporate printed and the stores had no way of printing the Extra Bucks. (I must have "Stupid" wrote across my forehead or something, at all the lies these store people tell me all the time.)
Made one last trip to Food Lion, well, for this sale period. I'll be going back up that way on Thursday. Hopefully Brandy will have found me some more stuff to get for free, lol.

Big Sunday Shopping Day
Staples
Jumped up early and got my tail to Staples for the Free (after Rewards) backpack sale. Got Ryan an HP laptop backpack on sale for $44.99. It has room for his school books and papers, plus a padded pocket area for his laptop. Before, he was still carrying his old backpack from high school and his brother's laptop bag.
Also got the Free After Rebate Pens, Mechanical pencils, Hi-liters, and battery operated pencil sharpener.
Then I did it again and got John a High Sierra backpack, $45.99 on sale 50% off this week. ($45.99 IS the 50% off price, Yikes!) He was carrying a small laptop bag that was stuffed to bulging with his school books and papers and laptop all crammed into it.
I had $18.00 Rewards from recycling ink cartridges I used.
Altogether I spent $131.53, but will get all of it except tax back in rewards and rebates.
CVS
I got CVS's Free After ECB Sale items this week: Paper Mate Pens, Pencils, Filler Paper, Memo Books, and Notebooks. Spent ECBs, got ECBs back. Probably came out even. Hope so anyway.

Had a CRT for $2.00 off Softsoap Ensemble and a $2.00 CVS coupon from the Reinventing Beauty magazine, so got a Refill for free.
Also got a CRT for $2.00 off 2 Gold Emblem nut products; bought 2 snack size Cashews at .99 each = FREE w/ .02 overage.
The Oreos were $1.00, filler item to bring total up to the amount of ECBs I had.

Kroger
I went to Kroger today looking for the Sunday paper and to conduct a bit of an experiment. I was told at another Kroger yesterday that they couldn't tkae "CVS coupons", and that my Chiquita Bites SmartSource coupons were fradulent. So I tried using them at this Kroger and had no problem.
I needed the bread and buns, and got the SoBe water because I still had a BOGO Catalina and figured I'd get them while they were $1.00.
Also did another Amp deal. A nice extra benefit for me doing all these Amp deals is that my Kroger points are adding up fast. I was able to use 100 pts. to get .10/gal off my gas yesterday, and still had 105 pts. left for next time.

Krogering
I didn't buy a paper today - Gasp!
The coupons didn't look that great. I printed the AJC $1.00 off coupon and will try to go to Kroger tomorrow and buy a duo-pack of papers for...$1.75?
I hope I go because I needed to print some more coupons, but my ink is out and I didn't make it to Walmart this evening. Too tarrrrred.
Today I went Krogering. I did okay, but I think I could have done alot better.
The thing was, I'm so used to the stores running out of everything I'm looking to buy at this late date in the sale, so when I stopped at the first Kroger and saw they had the stuff, I jumped on it.
I bought 13 Temptations cat treats and 8 Playtex plastic gloves. (I had more gloves but a lady came by looking for them so I gave her about half of the ones I had. Should've given her all of them.)
With the Mega Sale, I got $5.00 off for each 10 items I bought, or a total of $10.00 in this case. Which made each item .50 less than the regular or sale price.
It made the Playtex gloves .50 each, and I had $1.00 off coupons, so I got $4.00 overage on those.
With the overage I bought some Ball Pickling Mix (to make pickles from cukes), a can of Kroger Refried beans, and a package of Ole flour Tortilla shells.
Value before Mega Sale and Coupons: $31.74
Final Total: $.74 + .77 tax = $1.51 spent Gift Card
Got back (2) $1.00 OYNO Catalinas for buying Temptations.
At the next Kroger I got (9) more Temptations cat treats, alot more gloves, and some dog food and treats. Also found some AMP drinks and was able to get 10 for another AMP deal.
I had like $9.00 and change overage because of the gloves, so I got my hubby a 12-pack of the Sam Adams beer he always wants but is too expensive.
Value before Mega Sale and Coupons: $70.87
Final Total: $13.87 + 3.25 tax = $17.12
Spent $10.00 Gift Card for the Amp drinks/Spent $7.12 for beer from other Gift Card
Got back $10.00 Gift Card catalina for buying Amp.
Got back (1) $1.00 OYNO Catalinas for buying Temptations.
At the last Kroger (which I only go to because they are the only Kroger that accepts Publix coupons) I did 3 transactions to get the stuff I wanted using e-coupons:
(After Mega sale Price)
$ .79 Sunny D x 3 (-.55 SS 5/31)
$1.99 Hartz dog treats (-$2.00 IP q)
$ .49 Quaker Quakes x 10 (-.55 Publix Q, Back to School Yellow Advantage Flyer)
$1.99 Fiber One Yogurt x 3 (-1.00 SS 7/12 & -1.00 Cellfire Q)
$1.00 Rolaids 3-pack (-1.00 RP 6/07)
$1.00 Softsoap Hand soap x 2 (-1.00 IP q
$1.00 Speed Stick deodorant x 3 (-1.50 IP q)
$1.29 Chex Mix x 3(-.50 IP q & -.50 Shortcuts e-q)
$1.49 Keebler cookies x 4 (-1.00 IP q)
$ .79 Kroger Refried beans (no coupon)
$1.00 AMP drinks x 20 (no coupon)
$1.00 Chiquita Pineapple Bites x 4 (-1.00 BOGO q on the package)*
Value before Mega Sale and Coupons: $81.05
Final Total: $22.90 + 2.30 tax = $25.20 ($5.20 total minus the AMP drinks)
Spent $10.00 Gift Card for the Amp drinks x 2
Got back $10.00 Gift Card catalina for buying Amp.
*Note: Final total should have been $2.00 cheaper, but the Coupon-ignorant Manager at this store trains his cashiers to assume every coupon is a fraud, and they can't tell the difference between a coupons.com printable and a smartsource printable, so she told me my Chiquita coupons were fraudulent - her exact word.)
*Note: I had another deal I'd planned to do, but couldn't, because the Manager of this Kroger is AN IDIOT.
I have several .50 off Vitaminwater Manufacturer coupons I got from the CVS Reinventing Beauty magazine ads, which I wanted to use at Kroger because they'll double.
With the Mega sale this week, Vitaminwaters are .50, so that would give me .50 overage on each one. Which I was going to use to buy the 3-minute Kroger pizzas, mega sale priced this week for .49 each.
But the cashier told me they couldn't take CVS coupons. Rather than argiung with her, I spoke to the Manager of the store. I already had an idea he was an idiot from a previous conversation, but hoped that he at least knew the difference between manu. and store coupons.
I told him what the cashier told me, reiterating that they weren't CVS coupons, but manu. coupons. Pointed out where it said Manufacturer Coupon, and that it had the barcode that starts with a "5". He listened to me, and looked at the coupons, and then shook his head and said that they could only take grocery store coupons like Ingles or Publix. They couldn't take CVS coupons.
You ever want to just bang your head against a brick wall - or better yet, someone else's?
What a dumbbutt.
Scored 30 more free Amp drinks (wish they had this deal with vitamin water instead)

Other Saturday Shopping
Not much to report here. I saw the Office Max sale way too late. By the time I got there today the highlighters were well gone, and the metal compasses had sold out just last night. I was able to get (3) plastic protractors at .05 each.
Total spent .16
Next I went to Target to look for some deals.
The strawberries weren't $1.50, but .50 for a pound of strawberries seemed ok so I was going to get a package of those.
The Taylor Farms cut veggies broccoli/cauliflower wasn't $1.00, so I wasn't getting that at all. We don't eat veggies enough that I wasn't sure that'd go to waste, so free was the only way I wanted it.
Then I wanted to get Pepperidge Farms hamburger/hot dog buns, and realized I hadn't brought my manu. coupon.
So I gave up and left without buying anything.
Also went into Walmart but wasn't able to find anything I was looking for.

More Amp
Thursday we had to make a trip to Lagrange to my hubby's college, so I stopped in a couple of Krogers down there and on the way back. Scored 40 Amp, total cost of $2.80, which was the tax.
Had a Doctor's appt. this morning, so stopped by Kroger while I was out and scored 30 more Amp, total cost $2.10 (Tax).
Amp Score
Stopped in at Kroger to check out the free Amp drink deal.
The first Kroger had 9 single cans, but I asked the manager and he was nice enough to open a 4-pack of them and let me have another one.
The total was $16.05, minus $5.00 for the Mega Deal - get $5.00 off wyb 10 items - for a final total of $10.70.
Then I got a Catalina coupon for a free $10.00 grocery gift card.
I went to another Kroger and did the deal two more times using the $10.00 gift card and paying .70 OOP each time.
Final: 30 Amps and $10.00 grocery Gift Card
Staples, CVS
We were a bit early for my son's PT this morning so I thought I'd pop in at Staples and get a couple more packs for 1 cent pencils.
I found Staples brand DVD-R's, 100 count, on sale for $19.98. Usually I pay nearly $40.00 for that amount of DVD-R's.
I really needed DVD+R's, but they were out of those, so I just bought the other ones and later I will take them back and exchange them.
After PT I went to CVS for more of my weekly shopping. I got 4 more of the photo books, for free. Used ECBs I already had from buying the free school supplies, and got back $7.99 for each book.
The Cheerios and razor was free after coupon, the Tylenol were a money-maker. I got the Pull Ups for about $3.99 after overage and coupon.
Using ECBs, I never spent any money at all at CVS this week. I haven't gone back and figured out how much ECBs I spent/made/lost/or profited yet.

1st Food Lion Shop
and CVS...
We drove up to Calhoun to the Tech College to get a book for my hubby's class, and as we were driving along he said "There's a CVS" so I said "Well, stop!". LOL.
I found the school scissors and a bottle of Tylenol, but that was all, but I got rainchecks, so that was good.
Then we came back down to Rome and went to the fartherest CVS out there. They had the 1-subject notebooks and glue. At that point I was like, I'm not even going to worry about this stuff anymore, and started to just put it back, but then I was like, No, it's free, I can't not get free, can I? John was laughing at me, but said he guessed not. But I didn't even ask for any rainchecks.
I went to kiosk and put in my photo cd to make my photo books, but the thing said I had no pictures on my disk. It was old and beat up looking; the cashier said it sometimes won't load the pictures, they didn't know what was wrong with it.
So we went to a nice, new CVS down the street and the kiosk read my disk fine. I made my book and ordered 4 copies.
While I waiting for the boy to make the books, I saw they had the Papermate pens in stock so I got those. They were completely free because apparently that CVS, when you have no balance, doesn't make you pay any tax.
Same thing with my photo books. I paid with my $7.99 from yesterday, and the balance was $0.00. I bought the four books in separate orders, using the ECB from the prior sale, so I ended up not spending so much as a real penny in there today.
I like it!
I especially like those FREE photo books! I did books of our pictures from our trip to Niagara Falls a couple of weeks ago. They turned out nice, if I do say so meself.
After reading Brandy (Earthy Mama's) blog, I decided to take the plunge and try a Food Lion shop, since I was going to be right by one today.
I think our Food Lion might be a smaller, maybe privately owned, I'm not sure what, but surely all Food Lion's aren't like this store, small and fairly run down. This store kind of reminds me of the Warehouse Groceries or the Cost Plus stores that moved in when the big chain grocery stores - Food Giant and Winn Dixie - moved out.
Anyway, I found the tuna display, but the coupons were cleaned out.
Our Duncan Hines cake mixes weren't marked 5/$5.00, so I don't know if they were on sale or not, but I found a box of cupcake mix that was 5/$5.00, so I got it.
I also had the $1.00 off Home 360 and Healthy Accents coupons, so we looked for something to buy. I had a printout of stuff Jenny had posted at Southern Savers, but I was afraid to try for .99 stuff, with a $1.00 coupon, since alot of people had been posting recently that the registers are beeping.
Most everything else they had for more than a dollar, I didn't need and didn't want to pay anything for. Ok, maybe a couple of cents, but not .19 or .29 or more.
We did find some cheap Home 360 tall white kitchen garbage bags, 15 ct., marked down to $1.49. I don't use cheap garbage bags in my kitchen but they are good for upstairs when the boys clean the food wrappers and empty drink bottles out of their dumps...I mean bedrooms...and I empty the bathroom trash. So that was worth .49 cents.
Lastly we got the Hormel Refridgerated Meals. Regular price $7.49, on sale for $3.99, and I had a couple of $2.00 off coupons, so we got them for $1.99 each.
Total Spent $4.80 including Tax.
We walked around and looked for other coupons but didn't find any. I've walked the store a few times before (never bought anything, though) but they've never had the good lot of coupons others say they are always finding at Food Lion.

New Publix is a BUST!
After speaking last week to the Manager of the new Publix location I wanted to start shopping at, I returned to the store today to shop, under the impression that he had solved the problem of his cashiers wanting to reduce the amounts of coupon values.
I was doing Charcoal deals to get some ground meat free, and I didn't need alot of the BOGO stuff this week.
The first transaction I didn't have too much trouble. Richard read the coupons, and entered/scanned them, because I had what I supposed to have, and wasn't trying to pull anything or steal or whatever.
He did have a question about using the Charcoal coupon and the Beef coupon, and I explained they were for two different items - not that he took my word for it, they never do, but I can't really blame them for that - but Kristy came over and he asked her and she asked did I get beef and I had so she said he could use both coupons.
My balance got down to .32 plus tax, and he and the bagger gentleman were impressed and actually congratulated me and said I did good.
Transaction two was pretty much a repeat of the first one as far as what I bought.
I didn't return to Richard's line because I've learned from the past that they seem happy for you once, but not so much twice.
Deborah seemed friendly and chatty at first, until I gave her my coupons.
First thing she says "The A-1 is on sale, I can't give you the $2.00..." and whoops out her pen to start marking through my coupon barcodes.
I told her she should not, and asked at least three times for Mr. Jewell to be called out there. She said he was in the store, and she would call him, but she didn't, and the last time I asked she just ignored me.
Kristy came over and Deborah tried to ask her about not reducing the A-1 coupons, but Kristy ignored her and pointed to my Rite Aid coupon and my $6.00 off pork coupon and said I couldn't use both of those, I'd have to pick which one I wanted to use. Huh??
Deborah asked her again about the A-1 and she said she could give the $2.00, and then she picks up my Rite Aid, $3.00 off Beef, $6.00 off Pork, and $4.00 off charcoal coupons and says she's taking them to Brian.
I assumed she meant Bryan Jewell, the Store Manager, and said that I wanted to see him. Maybe she didn't hear me. She came back and said that Brian said I could only use one of the coupons, but not all of them. Because they could only take one manufacturer coupon for charcoal.
I was flabbergasted. I pointed out and explained that the coupons were for all different items. They were not all for charcoal.
So she goes to go back to talk to Brian again, and I said "Tell him I want him out here!".
So Brian comes out there, but it's Brian Stephen, a Customer Service Manager, not Bryan Jewell. Conveniently, Mr. Jewell had left the store just 10 or 15 minutes ago for a lunch break.
The way Brian understood the coupons was that to be able to use my $3.00 off Beef wyb charcoal and Reynolds wrap or my $6.00 off pork wyb charcoal and one other item, AND my $4.00 off charcoal coupons was that I had to buy a bag of charcoal for each coupon.
And really I shouldn't have been able to use the Free KC Masterpiece but I guess they "let" that go because it was already entered. Nothing was said about also using the Reynolds wrap coupon, and they did see it.
Brian said Mr. Jewell was currently out of the building on lunch, so I said I'd wait on him to get back, and they saved the order - the whole time Kristy was constantly apologizing to the man in line behind me - and we moved to the Customer Service desk.
It was as we were moving that Brian informs me that Mr. Jewell had only left 10-15 minutes ago.
I told Brian I've shopped 5-6 different Publix, having done this same charcoal deal for at least three months now, and out of all those stores and puchases, HE is the ONLY person to read those coupons that way. He shrugged and said well, that's how HE read them.
I couldn't wait 30 or 45 minutes or however long Mr. Jewell was going to be "out", so I said, Ring me up. I'm done. I'm out of here.
He said if his Manager said it was allright....I said Nope! It's too late. This is the 2nd time I've driven up here to be treated like this and I will NOT be coming back to this store.

CVS & Staples
I was going to CVS Saturday night...the new week sale starts at 6pm on Saturday at our store...but my hubby make a snarky remark about driving so far (abt. 20 miles) just to go to one store, so I didn't go.
And I don't know what happened yesterday, I couldn't drag my fanny out of the house all day...and then it rained and came storms all evening so probably good I stayed home.
At any rate, as you would expect, the stores were flat cleaned out of the school supplies by the time I got there this morning.
The first CVS I went to had the rulers and the Gillette Fusion razors, no Tylenol.
I went ahead and got the rulers and the razor, which cost $5.97 after $4.00 coupon for the razor. I got back $5.98 ECB.
Then I made my photo book, which was $2.01 after paying $5.98 ECB. Got back $7.99 ECB, so my final total right now is +.01 cent (I think?).
The clerk gave me rainchecks for all the school supplies and the Tylenol. I forgot my PullUps coupons, so I will get those later.
Later in the day I went to another CVS in a different city...same story on the school supplies, but they also had no razors or Tylenol.
I got two rulers, and I had a $2.00 off Soft Soap Ensembles CRT and a $2.00 mfr. Q from Reinventing Beauty magazine so I got a $3.99 Soft Soap pump refill. Also a bag of Giant Nerds for filler to take the rest of my ECB I was spending amount.
Spent $2.00 ECB and $1.06, got back $1.98 ECB. Final Total $1.08 OOP.
Here I asked for rainchecks and was told they can't give rainchecks on 3-day sale items. Or, they could give rainchecks on the items, but she would have to write no ECBs in the ECB field because the ad says No ECBs after Tuesday. (Nevermind I WOULD have bought them on Monday had they been available for me to buy. I did my part, showing up on the right day.)
I also visited Staples to day to get my .01 paper and pencils. The pencils were .01 today...the paper I have to wait for a rebate, but that's okay, in the end it's still .01 paper. Can't beat that!

CVS
This past week...Nothing really exciting, I got the tape and pencils and pantyliners on sale, free after ECB. And some St. Ives Apricot Body Scrub (I think?). They were $1.49, I had a $1.50 coupon, but apparently CVS's registers now beep at overage like Walgreens, so I only got $1.49 off.
At one CVS I found the Bic razors marked down to $1.50...I had $3.00 off coupons, but they wouldn't let me use them at all, wouldn't even adjust them down. Said I had to buy something over $3.00 to be able to use the coupons.
I wasted some ECBs on a Johhny Depp, POTC Pez dispenser and a couple of Powerade drinks. The Pez I wanted, the Powerades were fillers to be able to spend an ECB for more than the amount of stuff I was buying.
I'm excited about the free photobook this week. I'm putting together pictures of our Niagara Falls trip a couple weeks ago to make a picturebook for my Mom.

Got my 10 papers today. Only did a little shop at one Publix and that was more about getting some coupon magazines than actual shopping.
Only thing was, this Publix still has the Sarah Lee Sweet Pies on sale for BOGO $3.39, and I had some more $1.00 coupons, which makes them about .70 each. I have about a dozen of these in the freezer, and didn't really need anymore, but hated to not get them while they were so cheap. So I only got four.
And then I could have gotten them free using the overage from a J&J deal, but then I decided I didn't want to waste my coupons because I need the overage next week when I try to get a cheap gas card.
So I spent $2.98 on the pies...and then didn't even make it home with them. We stopped by my hubby's fire station and he put them in the freezer, telling the firefighters on duty there today they could have two of them. Him and his partner will eat the other tomorrow.
I've worked on my Charcoal deal today, trying to figure out how I could work it to get the overage, but I just don't have enough coupons. The best I've been able to do is about .33 overage. That's counting my $5/$25 coupon, so if I do anymore than one deal in a transaction, I'm going in the hole.
I need to pull my other q's I know have overage and see if I can make any deals with them.
I didn't make it to CVS tonight to get a jump on next weeks deals. J had me working on our house remodeling with him. So I guess I'll get rainchecks if they're out of the stuff.

The Manager at the new Publix I had wanted to start shopping at called me tonight finally. I had written a letter last week after I asked the CS girl their Coupon policy and she told me the reduced mfr. coupons and didn't give overage.
This guy said he was a new Manager, had taken over just this week, and didn't know everyone, or what all was going on.
He said I was right, they weren't supposed to reduce mfr. coupons. I told him it turned out they didn't, but they did reduce my Publix coupons when I used them with other coupons and I didn't think that was right. He kind of "Hm'd" at that, but never really said anything to the effect of whether it was right or not, but he apologized for that happening to me, and thanked me for bringing the situation to his attention.
He asked what other Publix's I shopped at and I told him and he was like, Wow. But apparently he wants me to come back and shop at his because he said he looked forward to seeing me when I come back in, and that I should ask for him.
So maybe I got a new Publix where I can save more like I used to again.
I have also done some CVS'ing this week, but I'm not done yet, so I'll post that later.

Rite Aid
Everytime I say I'm going to stop Rite Aid'ing, they suck me right back in. This week they had a bunch of stuff for free, which I didn't need, but hated to just not get and end up throwing the coupons away.

Publix
I tried a new Publix today, in another city. I had asked their coupon rules and was glad to learn they still take the drug store competitor coupons (Rite Aid $5/$25). Was not happy when they said they adjust down mfr. coupons and didn't give overage. I argued it briefly - Publix does get reimbursed the full amount of the coupon - but the CS person said "We don't. We cross out the amount on the coupon and write the price on there". At that point I said "HmMm" and left. Learned a long time ago you can't argue with ignorance.
I decided to shop there anyway, just not taking any of my mfr. coupons that give me overage.
Turned out I had some coupons worth more than the item because of an in-store special. I decided to go ahead and try buying two of the item, to see if I'd get the overage. At worst I'd get them free.
However, I didn't have any trouble getting the overage on the mfr. coupons.
Otherwise, I had overage from mfr. coupons stacked with Publix coupons, which has never even been a question before. And the first two transactions I did, they still weren't.
The third transaction, I had bought 2 Raid bug sprays, one at $3.89, the other at $4.49. I had $2.00 off mfr. coupons, and $2.00 off Publix coupons. The cashier adjusted the Publix coupon down to $1.89 (on both of them, even though the 2nd Raid was over $4.00).
I had also bought two J&J Red Cross items and Bandaids, using a $3.00/2 J&J mfr. coupon and a $1.00 Bandaids mfr. coupon. Then I had the $5 wyb (3) items Publix coupon, and she started figuring out how much the items cost, minus the coupons I'd used, and marked out the $5.00 on the coupon and changed it to $2.something.
I said no, wait a minute, just forget it. She said I'd still get them free...But that's not the point.
A CS manager tried to explain they can't give money back on a coupon, and I tried to explain what they are doing is discriminating against coupon users.
My point is, if I come in and buy these items and spend cash, I get the whole Publix coupon amount.
If I come in and buy these items and write a check - which my bank will reimburse them for - I get the whole Publix coupon amount.
If I come in and buy the items and spend coupons - which the manufacturer will not only reimburse Publix for, but an additional .08 handling - they don't feel I should get the whole Publix coupon amount.
Oh, and EVERY other Publix in the southeast - the other 5 or 6 that I shop at, and all the ones the other Southern Savers shop at - are ALL wrong. They aren't supposed to be giving coupon overage. This store said so.
