Food Lion Failure
I knew I shouldn't have gone today, but I was afraid they might have gotten restocked and I'd miss out on a day of triples.
The three Shave gels was all they had. Hubby used his Guiding Stars FLip to buy the salad, and I used mine for another bottle of apple juice.
I also got 3 more 2 ltr. drinks...only remembering too late that they were only .50 each during the 3-day weekend sale. I got confused with the Grand Opening sale at the other Food Lion that had these on sale all week.

*I had this figured to be $1.00 less than it was. I see on my receipt where a .40 Cellfire for Nature Valley Bars came off, instead of the $1.00 Shortcuts Nut Clusters that was supposed to have. I don't know why the total came up $1.00 more, instead of .60 cents.
I'm not arguing about $1.00, for all that I got...I just like for the math to add up right so I know what's going on.

Walgreens (Tuesday)
I wasn't even going to stop in this Walgreens; I was going to drive right on by and wait and go to my good Walgreens later in the week. I've had a little trouble at this Wags, not too much, but enough that I was concerned about them insisting that they'd have to have my Listerine coupon out of the kids activity book, instead of just scannning and letting me keep it.
I said oh well, I'll go in and see if they have any of the free toothbrushes - I know my usual Walgreens won't. They didn't.
In the Clearance section I came across 2 bottles of the children's Zyrtec I needed to make my Listerine/Folgers deal a good one, so I couldn't not give it a try. I would just have to argue that they couldn't have my coupon (I didn't cut it out, and just carry the whole page of coupons in my envelope.)
I got the Listerine and the Folgers, then I needed 2 items without coupons to be able to use 2 RRs, and I needed them to add up to about $2.00. They had some Halloween candies on sale for .99 a bag with in-ad coupon that worked out good (Wags coupons don't count towards number of items, if used last I think).
So I checked out and gave her my manu. coupons and then my RRs, and then I pulled my sheet of activity book coupons out of my envelope and said oh I need you to scan my Listerine coupon, and opened my sale paper for the candy coupon. She just typed the coupon numbers into the register without any trouble or argument at all. Good girl!

CVS (Tuesday)
This morning I got out and headed to Rome, where there are 4 (or 5?) CVS's all within just a few miles distance to choose from.
Back at home last night I went back and figured out what I had, as far as coupons, and what deals I could do. Mead Five-Star had an ECB deal, and there were coupons to go along with it, so I wanted to get those. My kid needed binders. Generally I'd buy less expensive ones at Walmart, but with the coupons, ECBs and my deals, I got the Mead binder and notebook for alot cheaper.
I told my son those binders cost almost TEN DOLLARS EACH! But he wasn't impressed. He was like, well I know you didn't pay that much for them. lol

When I got out to the car and checked my receipt, apparently she hadn't scanned either of my Mrs. Paul's IP q's or Publix q's, and one of my charcoal q's. Which was strange because I stood there and thought I watched her scan them all.
I went back inside and they gave me $12.00 back without any problem.

CVS (Monday)
After leaving Rite Aid disappointed, I jumped across the street to the CVS (there is a Walgreens on the other corner...seems weird this Rite Aid doesn't seem concerned about chasing off customers to the other drugstores).
Just this week I discovered the $5/$25 coupon for taking the Readyfill quiz, so I put together some little deals to get some stuff free, or nearly.
I discovered this CVS still had some Glade stuff - surprisingly! - so I decided to start with that. The deal was also a Money-Maker, which I needed to offset some of my $5/$25 deals.
I couldn't combine the deals because I was using a $4/$20 coupon out of the Readyfill coupon book, and the $5/$25 coupons says it can't be combined with any other money-off-amount coupons, so I didn't try to push my luck.
Transaction #1: (My card)
$2.50 Glade Glass Candle Holder
$2.50 Glade Glass Candle Holder
$2.50 Glade Candle Refill 3pk.
$2.50 Glade Candle Refill 3pk.

I gave her (1) 4.00/20.00 purchase CVS q, (2) 4.00 off Glade Sense & Spray qs and (2) BOGO Glade Holder/Refill qs.
My total then should have been $3.00 + tax. I had my ECB out ready to pay. But then she's like, this is in the negative...do you want to get something else? I didn't argue because as you know I'm a rotten mathematician, and figured I'd messed something up, as usual. I grabbed a Reeses bar (aggravated that I didn't have a .55 off and BOGO q from this past weeks paper, lol).
I ended up paying .27 total, and got back $6.00 ECBs for the Glades ($3.00 wyb $10). $5.73 profit.
I got out to the car and looked at my receipt and figured out, on the BOGO coupon, instead of subtracting $2.50 for the refills, she took off the regular price of $4.69 each.
Even with the candy, my subtotal was -.88, which applied to the $1.15 tax, taking my total down to .27 oop.
Well, allright! You know I had to go in and do it again! Woulda done it a 3rd time but they didn't have four more of the glass candle holders.
(Don't hate on me, it's a manufacturer q, they'll get reimbursed for it.)

Rite Aid (Monday)
My first stop today was the same Rite Aid I'd ended at the other day, when I couldn't use 2 coupons on BOGO razors.
Today the Store Manager who was running the register wouldn't let me use the $5.00 in-ad coupon stacked with the $4.00 newspaper coupon. She said the in-ad coupon was a manufacturer coupon and you can't use two manufacturer coupons on one item. (Even though it tells you right on the coupon to look for manufacturer coupons in the Sunday paper.)
So I told her to cancel the whole thing, got my coupons back, and went on down the road.
At the next Rite Aid, I found my items to complete the Zyrtec scenario #2, and had no problem with using both coupons...and was checked out again by the Store Manager.
However, the $5/$25 coupon wouldn't scan and she told me she couldn't take it if it wouldn't scan, said she couldn't push it through. I said, oh. The other Rite Aids do. She said she didn't know how they did it. I said I didn't either, they mash a button on the register.
So she mashed a button on the register and put in the coupon, so I guess she knew how they did it afterall, hm.
I swan, people just want to give me a hard time for some reason!

Rite Aid
Wanted to do Jenny's Southern Savers Zyrtec deal this week. Since we have a Rite Aid here in town...not one of the more coupon friendly ones, but this deal didn't seem like it'd be any trouble as far as coupon overage or anything...I went and did Scenario #1 today:
$18.99 Zyrtec 30ct
$ 2.99 Tylenol 8hr. 24ct
$ 2.50 Kotex pads
(I didn't get the B1G1 Tridents because I was too lazy to mess with signing up and printing the coupon)
= $24.48 + 1.71 tax = $26.19
- 5.00/25.00 RA q (I tried to use the $5/$20 q but it wouldn't scan so since my total was over $25 including tax I gave her a $5/$25 one. It wouldn't scan either. She entered it manually and had to have a Manager's Approval. He gave the approval, but then was looking at my receipt and coupons. He didn't say anything, but who knows what he might have imagined I did wrong, and what kind of surprise I'll get next time I go in.)
- 5.00 Zyrtec in-ad q
- 4.00 Zyrtec
- 1.00 Kotex
- 2.00 Tylenol 8/23 (This one beeped as no matching item but she typed it in.)

Target
Stopped in at Target looking for a couple of deals. I'm really gun-shy with Target, all the trouble I constantly have there, so I don't go often. The deals really aren't worth the hassle, especially when they mess you up and you don't end up really getting deals anyway.
I went in the line of a teenage boy, and he was scanning/entering my coupons. The All coupons he had to press a button to push it through, I'm not sure why as there was no overage involved, and the Twix he had to enter the price of the candy.
Things were going along fine then a Team Leader came over and stuck her nose in, I'm not sure why. Right about the time she showed up was as the Crystal Light 3-pack drink mix beeped for overage. He probably would have sent it on through otherwise. (Which wouldn't have been wrong; they were manufacturer coupons, Target will get reimbursed the full amount of the coupon.)
Anyway, the TL says they can't accept the coupon because it's for more than the value of the item. So I pull out my printed Target Corporate Coupon Policy and show her where it says "we can adjust the value of the coupon to equal the price of the item".
But she STILL said no, they can't. Their Corporate policy is to not accept coupons for more than the price of the item.
I said that is not true, but she ignored me and said "We can't take any of these" and deleted all the coupons the boy had already scanned off. Even though the only coupons that would have needed adjusting was the Crystal Light ones.
Standing there in line I called Corporate on my cellphone. Worked my way through "Press 1 or 2 or Argh!!" I kept pressing "0" until I got a live person, and then he didn't speak English.
It sounded like he kept repeating something about, 'they can't give cash back and have to adjust the value of the coupon is the reason for that'. I told him they were refusing to adjust the amount of the coupon, and were refusing the coupon altogether.
Eventually I hung up on him.
I finished checking out and went to Guest Services and asked for a Manager and the "LOD" (Leader on Duty) came up and I explained to her that I had this copy of Corporate policy, and that the Team Leader still refused to accept the coupon.
She asked me if I wanted to get the Crystal Lights, and I said No, I just wanted to be able to come in here and shop and not be given such a hard time all the time. It's everytime I come in there they want to argue and fuss and treat me badly about my coupons.
So she apologized and offered again to sell me the Crystal Lights using my coupons, so I said ok then, and went and got them.
She said that she would revisit the issue with her cashiers.
But it wasn't the cashier that did it, but the Team Leader.
At that time I hadn't realized yet the Team Leader had screwed me out of all those other coupons.
$1.92 Renuzit x 2

(They were going to make me choose which coupon I wanted to use but by this time I was so frustrated and aggravated that I yelled at her, "NOW you're telling me you don't stack Target and manufacturer coupons anymore either?!?!?" I think I scared her and she just gave it to me even though she probably would have liked to keep arguing it.)
= .64/3
Total $4.66 + 1.01 tax = $5.67 oop
(No, that's not a good deal anyway, because it should have been $1.32. I used my coupons correctly and should have gotten the deal I was expecting.)
Rite Aid
Rite was my 1st and last shops, with one thrown in the middle somewhere.
I didn't go with any real plan, not knowing what I would or wouldn't be able to find on sale at this point so late in the week.
The 1st Rite Aid is very coupon friendly so I got my Coppertone Sunblock here, using the $5.00 IP q's without any problem.
Also got the Be Kool and one pack of Duracell batteries.
$11.99 Duracell AA 12pk
$3.99 Be Kool Gel Patch

SCRs: $3.00 Coppertone, $2.00 Be Kool (and half the Duracell SCR $2.50)
Final: $1.61 profit
The 2nd Rite Aid is also pretty coupon friendly. I used the $1.00 off Renu and Clear Eyes coupons without any beepage even though the items were .99 each.
Also got my other pack of Duracell batteries and Bic Pencils here.
I had also bought 2 Schick Quattro razors, but had overlooked the "For Men" part in the ad, and had gotten women's, which was wrong. They were out of the men's items - duh! - so I got a refund on the women's razors.

(No hassles about deducting for the coupons I used, since they will still submit and get reimbursed for them.)
SCRs: $5.00 Duracell (total with 1st trans), $2.00 Bic? (Did I get wrong item?)
Final: ? I dunno ? Maybe $7.50 or $9.50 profit ?
The last Rite Aid had the men's Quattro razors....guess I found out why...the register wouldn't accept my coupon for the free one. I was pretty sure it was Rite Aid policy to accept one coupon per item, even on BOGO items, but maybe I'm wrong. Even if I am wrong, they need to change their policy because that's stupid and only hurts them in the end.
Tonight they could have sold 2 razors and 2 refills for a total of $22.38. I would have paid $6.38, and the coupons would have paid $16.00, and they would have made that sale. But since they wouldn't accept two of my manu. coupons, I got a refund on the refills and didn't buy them. I shouldn't have bought the razors, either, and the more I think about it, the more I think I'm probably going to take them back anyway, because of the principle of the thing.
I didn't get the Renuzit Crystals or the wall clock I had wanted to get, because I'd wanted to be able to buy them with more razors and use my $5/$20 coupons. But they messed me up on the razors, so they didn't get those sales either.

- 1.50 Pert for Men

Then I decided to return the refills. He deducted for the $4.00 coupon and gave me a refund of $7.39 + .52 tax = $7.91 refund.
I asked him why only $7.39, and he said for the coupon I used. Yet he wasn't going to return my coupon until I asked for it.
SCR: $2.00 Pert
Final: I think he cost me $3.46
Saturday Shopping
Set out this morning to get my papers and do some deals.
Got the pics, will work on the details tomorrow between canning.
I came home to find my counters completely covered in tomatoes, okra, and gigantic banana peppers. I just learned to can tomatoes and cucumber pickles...I don't know about canning/pickling okra or peppers! Especially peppers as long as my arm.

Kroger
I put together a Mega deal and headed out this afternoon with my $1.00 off AJC coupons looking for my double bundle of Sunday papers.
The first (and closest) Kroger I went to didn't have any double-bundle papers, only single. Although I pay $1.00 per paper on Saturdays, and could have here, I only had 3 coupons, so I was still several papers short than planned.
Then I got over to the fruit snack row and found the Betty Crocker fruit shapes priced .30 more than I'd been expecting from deals found on the internet.
That happens, I know, and usually I would have just dealt with it and refigured, but between the papers and this, everything seemed to be going wrong. It seemed like a good time to abort. But I needed my papers. So I left and drove another 20+ miles to a larger city Kroger.
It was late in the day and there was only 2 double bundles of papers left. The fruit shapes were also priced higher here, but I had driven that far, I wasn't leaving without doing my deal.

Saturday Shopping
Usually the day I go get my Sunday papers, but didn't today. Guess I will see if if I can find any Kroger deals with the new Mega event tomorrow and get them tomorrow.
I wasn't going out at all today, but at some point it dawned on me I had $11 OYNO Kroger coupons that were on the verge of expiring. Actually some of them had already expired but I wanted to try to use them anyway. They were only one/two days expired.

Kroger
I still have 12 charcoal coupons, but I don't think a team of wild horses could have drug me into a Publix today. The "Where Shopping is a Torture" store.
I planned to go to Kroger today instead. I was excited to go to Kroger and get great deals doing the $4/4 deals. But all day I kept finding other things to do that prevented me from going.
Finally, this evening, after it didn't come a storm, and my kid wanted to use my computer to play a game, I just grabbed my stuff and said "I'll be back later!" and headed out before I could reconsider.

I got in the checkout lane and unloaded my items onto the belt. The cashier girl greeted me and seemed nice enough, but then she said "Just a minute" and turned to talk to the CS Staff person who was working the next register. They conversed lowly for a moment, and then she went to talk to another CS Staff person, who went to the CS Desk and next thing I heard them call someone whose name I couldn't hear clearly to the front.
Meantime, cashier comes back to the register and proceeds to make us wait longer, not saying why, just that it'd be a minute. I asked was anything wrong, but I guess she didn't hear me.
Then, for no apparent reason, she started ringing up my groceries. I gave her my coupons and she started entering/scanning those, too. I'm not sure why, she entered my Pork coupons as Competitor coupons. Strange.
The last one beeped, I'm not sure if it was because I had more coupons than items or if because I went into the negative. She turned and told the CS Staffer behind her that she needed an over-ride. The message was relayed to the other CS Staffer, and once again the person they'd paged up front before was paged again.
Turned out it was Eric, the store manager. He smile and greeted me, and she showed him the coupon, and he entered his code so she could enter the coupon (as a competitor coupon again...I don't know why?). He asked if she had already entered the others and she said she had, so he was going to go and she asked him to wait a minute. He said oh yes, it'll do it again...but it wasn't doing anything again. I paid her and she gave me my change and we all smiled and said Goodbye, good evening.
But as I was leaving I turned and looked back and she had my coupons spread out on the counter and I heard her say she wanted to make sure (something) was okay, and I heard him say that it was.
I don't know what she was questioning. I've used the pork coupons since March, coupled with charcoal and usually another item coupon and there's never been a problem. Or at least not any problem they've told me. But obviously something has come up or has been said about it, for her to have called him to the front as soon as she saw me.
I felt really guilty, and don't even know what I've done wrong.

Publix
Had to go to my son's today to work on his stove and sink, so I planned a stop by Publix on the way back. The 2nd favorite one, that takes FLips.
I pretty much thought this was going to be a Kraft/Publix rebate buying trip, and getting a raincheck for charcoal because I bought the last of the charcoals on the shelf yesterday, but they were stocked up again today.
Got 2 bags of Matchlight, 2 pork items, 2 KC Masterpiece sauces.
Thought I needed 5 more items for the Kraft/Publix rebate...turned out it was only 4, but oh well...I got 2 small Kraft salad dressings ($1.99 - $1.50 IPq), Kraft 2% Shredded Mozzarella cheese ($1.67 - $1.00 IPq), Kraft 2% Milk Monterey Jack and Cheddar cheese cubes ($1.67 - $1.00 IPq), and Jell-O Chocolate Refrigerated pudding ($2.79 - .50 (doubled) 08/09 SS or RP).
I still had some overage so I got 6 Banquet Chicken-pot-pies.
Got one of the Publix frozen pizzas which was the penny item this week.
Total Value of items before Coupons: $40.82
Total Spent: $-0.24 + $1.26 tax = $1.02
The cashier wasn't offended that I had gotten my groceries so cheap. She said she was going to have to start buying the papers and getting coupons. I said she definately should do it. She was a very nice girl.
